Reference project WT009
Technical University Katowice
The WT009 wind tunnel was built for the Technical University of Katovice (contact person Prof. PŚ Jarosław KOZUBA). The wind tunnel is characterized by a high contraction, the non-expanding corners and the long diffuser.

Product description
Basic structure
The WT009 consists of a welded steel profile construction and sheet steel. The scratch-resistant 2K paint finish gives the wind tunnel an attractive appearance and protects it from corrosion. Inspection flaps in all relevant segments allow easy access to the inside of the wind tunnel.
Drive
The WT009 is driven by a vibration-decoupled axial fan. The fan, which is mounted on spring anti-vibration mounts, is connected to the wind tunnel via canvas flanges. This ensures low-noise system operation.
Flowpreparation
The long diffusers, which are internally provided with splitter plates to counteract flow separation, open into non-expanding corners. The wind tunnel has a large settling. This contains four screens at an optimal distance from each other. These undivided stainless steel screens are accessible via inspection flaps for easy cleaning. A honeycomb straightener with a length-diameter ratio of 8:1 further reduces the swirl in the flow. In a nozzle whose nozzle geometry corresponds to a fifth-order polynomial, the flow is accelerated and any turbulence that may be present is suppressed.
Measuring
The measurement in the wind tunnel takes place in the closed test section. This is integrated into the extended nozzle outlet. The interior of the closed test section can be seen through glass windows. The recording of flow characteristics using optical measuring methods, e.g. PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) or LDA (Laser Doppler Anemometry) is possible without any problems. The test section can optionally be equipped with a wind tunnel scale.
