Reference project WT327
France
For our costumer in france, the WT327 wind tunnel was further developed and manufactured in Revision D. The system is characterized by its low overall installation height, modular corner sections allowing disassembly, and thermal decoupling from the surrounding environment.

Product description
Basic Structure
The WT327(D) features a welded structural frame made of stainless steel profiles combined with stainless steel sheet metal cladding. The use of stainless steel provides both an attractive exterior finish and enhanced corrosion resistance.
The wind tunnel is equipped with separable corner sections, allowing installation in laboratories with restricted access conditions. Internal access to the wind tunnel is provided via maintenance manholes located in all relevant segments.
Drive
The WT327(D) is powered by a vibration-isolated axial fan. The fan is mounted on spring-based vibration dampers and connected to the wind tunnel via flexible canvas flanges. This configuration ensures low-noise operation and prevents mechanical vibrations from affecting the test section.
Mounting the fan on transverse support beams provides unobstructed access and optimal structural clearance in the test section area.
Flow preparation
Within the settling chamber, turbulence is reduced by two flow-conditioning screens arranged at an optimized spacing. Additionally, a honeycomb flow straightener suppresses directional irregularities and swirl components in the incoming airflow.
The airflow is subsequently conditioned and accelerated in a nozzle whose contour is designed according to a seventh-order polynomial. This geometry ensures smooth flow acceleration and further reduces residual turbulence.
Thermal decoupling
The wind tunnel is thermally decoupled from the surrounding environment by means of dedicated insulation measures.Thermal decoupling minimizes heat exchange between the airflow inside the wind tunnel and the surrounding environment. This ensures stable temperature conditions and reproducible measurement results.
