Product description

Basic structure
The WT355 consists of a welded steel profile construction and galvanized sheet metal. The additional painting gives the wind tunnel an attractive look and also protects it from corrosion. Despite its short design, the wind tunnel offers a sufficiently large, easily accessible measuring range. Access to the interior of the wind tunnel is possible through inspection flaps on all relevant segments.

The WT355 is driven by a vibration-decoupled axial fan. The fan, which is mounted on spring anti-vibration mounts, is connected to the wind tunnel via canvas flanges. This ensures low-noise system operation and prevents the test section from being affected. By mounting the fan on traverses, there is optimal freedom of work in the area of ​​the test section.

In the settling chamber, turbulence is prevented by two screens that are optimally spaced apart from each other. Furthermore, irregularities in the flow direction of the incoming air are suppressed in a honeycomb straightener. In a nozzle whose nozzle geometry corresponds to a 7th order polynomial, the flow is prepared and any turbulence that may be present is suppressed.

The testing in the wind tunnel is carried out with an open test section. Measurements can be taken here with a very low degree of turbulence and speeds of up to 37 m/s (higher speeds on request). The recording of flow characteristics using optical measuring methods, e.g. PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) or LDA (Laser Doppler Anemometry) is possible without any problems.
